Back in May we wound up with a night off in North Carolina's Great Smokey Mountains, lodging up in an old tobacco barn. We were stocked up with a few jars of Gatlinburg Gold after playing a show at the Sugarland Shine Distillery, had a camera on hand, and our beloved bass man Ye Ole Nick Leen got it in his head to set up a video shoot.
It was a good old time; we stayed up way too late, had a blast hanging with our new friends Brenda and Chef Mo (our gracious hosts), and wound up with a new video. Hope ya dig it!
Lyrics
Many years ago, just a blue eyed kid raised doin all the same things I did
We'd climb them pines and go huntin on the ridge and you always had that way
I was young and foolish and thought I knew best
When you left it was me to blame
Now there's clouds above these mountains we loved and the storms come bringing that rain
Everybody's got a little history and I've had enough trouble with the birds and bees and
There ain't gonna be another one knows me half as well as the one who left
But rememberin the times that you were mine helped me be what I am today
And I'd probably give all the rest of my years for another one with Sunny Day
Sunny Day where'd you go
Ain't been by in twenty years or so
Know you've been around cause they told me so but you ain't been visiting me
Sunny Day how've you been
Never would have thought you'd be my best friend and now
That you're gone I'll be wishing til the end
For a girl named Sunny Day
Livin in the past ain't no way to be
Finally found a little happy found a little bit of peace
And the life I built's still the life for me learned to live with the skies of grey
And every now and then I see your family
And they tell me that you're livin life wild and free
And I figure that you probably never ask bout me
But I think about you sometimes
Maybe now that I'm old and wise
You can see fit to find me and say hi
Just for a minute come and brighten my eyes so I know that it ends okay
And you can bet that I regret watchin Sunny go and head out West
But I'm happy to be a part of them memories livin in the back of both of our heads
