I don’t see a villain in this story, just people doing what they had to do
I don’t see a bad guy just the cold realities of me and you
It never feels like some old movie, there won’t be no shootout at high noon
All the good things and the bad are bound to catch up to me soon
We didn’t mean to hurt each other, we just could not get along
Maybe there’s a way that we could both make out like bandits
And I feel certain that you’re better off and probably I’m the same
Everybody points themselves into the sunset, no one has to lose the game
I know there’s evil and you’ve seen it, evil wouldn’t make you feel like this
I think we knew that it was hopeless but we just could not resist
This ending might not be such a tragedy, and I don’t think it’s ending here at all
I taught you how to get back up, and then you taught me how to break my fall
Did not mean to hurt each other, we just could not get along
Maybe there’s a way that we could both make out like bandits
And I feel certain that you’re better off and probably I’m the same
We could both just point ourselves into the sunset, no one has to lose the game
